6-30-10.  BYD 9 Flames 11.   The boys played one of their best games of the year last night losing the the undefeated Flames.  The score went back and forth throughout the game until a couple bloop singles won it for them in the last inning.  Time limitation prevented us from getting our last at bat.  I was very proud of them.

6-13-10 .  Schools Out Backyard Blast. 2nd PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!

6-1-10.  12U split a doubleheader against Elit on Tuesday, winning the first game 6-5 and dropping the second 8-4.  In the victory, Sam Balke went the distance on the mound and posted the game winning RBI in the bottom of the last inning.   12U is 9-10 on the season.

5-27-10  BYD – 13 Rockford – 12.  Connor Hamp (game winning) and Caleb Sleeman (game tying) capped a dramatic comeback with back to back doubles in the bottom of the 6th inning to beat Rockford by one.

BYD 11 Grand Haven 1.  Noskey, Guinn and Pollock combine on the mound giving up only 1.

12U had a great Tournament in Lanisng this past weekend.  "I was very happy with the way the boys fought.  Sleeman and Balke pitched particularly well, and we fell just short of making the championship game."  Coach Pollock

It should also be noted that the day before we lost to Howell by two.  In the last inning of that game we had men on 2nd & 3rd  - Caleb hit a one hop laser to rightfield and got thrown out at first to end the inning.  If it wasn’t hit so hard, it would have scored both runs.

"The way the brackets lined up here, we played the Cobras twice – and got hammered by them on Saturday.  To face them the next day and keep it tight made us pretty happy. "  Coach Pollock

Lost a tight game to Rockford 5-3 on Tuesday as BYD hit into two double plays killing rallies.

9U      5-26-10  Won both 14-5, 10-7 vs Middleville.  "The Kids came alive for a complete game solid pitching, defense and hitting.  It was great to see their excitement and most importantly their confidence grow" Coach Post

Lost a couple of heartbreakers last night, 9-7 & 7-4 to Hastings 10U team
both 5 inning games.

Game 1 - Struckmeyer pitched 3 strong innings and we had a 7-3 lead going
into the bottom of the 4th inning.  Bottom of the fourth Lafler got 2 outs
from the first three batters, Hastings started to hit and went into win 9-7.

Game 2 - Nawrocki pitched 3 strong innings and the kids kept battling back
but came up a little short.  Zackery pitched the bottom of the fourth.
Faced four batters and only through 13 pitches.

Strong defense in both games including 2 caught pop flys in the outfield,
and an impressive play with a ball hit to Zack (1st base) under hand toss to
Struckmeyer (pitcher) covering the bag on a full sprint to get the out.
Faced strong pitching in both games.  Kids are starting to hit the ball and
gain confidence at the plate which is good to see.

8U Black Sox     Split their 1st DHer vs the Lansing Tigers this past Sunday.  Loosing the 1st game 0-3 and winning the second in extra innings 3-1.  Many great efforts were put in by the Blacksox.  Ben Davis had a strong day pitching, hitting and making a nice double playin the field.  Grant Pratt and Noah Smith we solid brick walls at catcher.  Aiden Malone and Rohan Dixon had nice hits and did Matt Sullivan along with playing a great 1st base.   Dawsen Beach scored the teams 1st ever run, knocked in a run and had a couple hits and the and closed out the game pitching.

8U Red Sox    6-13-10.  Schools Out Backyard Blast 2nd PLACE!!!!!!!!!!

Lost 0-2 and 3-7 to Great Lakes Baracudas
